Since the beginning of human existance, extraterrestrials have inhabited Earth. These entities, while in many ways looked and acted like humans, in fact were not. When crossing the portal into Earth, their DNA was altered in ways that granted them abilities that made them not only different from humans, but in some ways superior. Their origins are largely unknown, however, that didn't deter humans from fabricating their own stories to make sense of these alien beings. Gods, Fae, Angels, and Demons are only some of the names given to them. While some abilities were considered extraordinary and divine, others who were misunderstood were labeled as monsters and driven into the dark recesses of the world.
As civilizations rose and fell, religions written and re-written, the aliens idolized were eventually replaced or forgotten entirely. The stories that did manage to survive were reduced to nothing more than superstition and myths. As the Golden Age faded into history, many fled back to their home Realm, leaving behind their legacies and influence on the world that turned their back against them. But not all fled. The ones that remained hid among the shadows and watched as the world outgrew them. While it was believed that the last bit of magic left with the last group, humans were blissfully unaware that, even though the beings were gone, their legacies remained in the form of supernatural beings; witches, vampires, shapeshifters, and more. Gifted their abilities through loyalty, magic, or sired within families that inherited their magical abilities, the lost children of the Otherworlders were left to pick up the pieces and carry the burden of their forefathers.
